I'm Sam Barr, and I'm honored to be on this adventure with you. As a mindfulness-based counselor, I am deeply committed to helping individuals navigate through life's challenges with compassion, understanding, and healing. I believe in the power of mindfulness to cultivate awareness, resilience, and transformation so that we can access our present-moment experience to free ourselves from the patterns of thought, emotion, and behaviors that we want to change.

Engrained with a deep-rooted sense of altruism from a young age, my goal in life has always been to help other people and to reduce suffering in the world to the greatest extent possible. This led me down a path of a social work degree, a graduate degree in counseling, and a career that led me to many different settings- homeless shelters, wilderness therapy, transitional therapy programs, universities, and group private practice. Through this exploration, I have identified counseling as the method of helping others that most closely aligns with my values and interests, and I hope that I can be a guide for others in their own journeys of self discovery and values-directed living. Through a combination of collaboration, non-judgmental space, emotional safety, solution focus, and acceptance work, let's take a look at what's currently working for you and what areas might need a few new skills.

Mindfulness is at the heart of my therapeutic approach. By cultivating present-moment awareness and acceptance, we can explore your thoughts, emotions, and sensations with curiosity and kindness. Through mindfulness-based techniques such as meditation, breathwork, and body awareness, we can uncover patterns, develop coping strategies, and foster inner peace and resilience.
