Power Trio of Therapy Graphic

The Power Trio of Practical Therapy

Motivational Interviewing (MI)   |   Strengths-Based Therapy (SBT)   |   Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

You could think of these three approaches as the power trio for short-term, pragmatic, future focused therapy. Motivational Interviewing (MI) helps you identify what you desire to have in your future such as a new job, better diet or lifestyle, healthier relationships, etc. Strengths-Based Therapy (SBT) emphasizes identifying your strengths, skills, and virtues to help you feel better equipped and capable to embrace the future more fully. Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) could be described as the application of both MI and SBT.

All three are future focused on the life you want to create and live rather than on pathologies, diving deeply into past traumas and experiences, or existential questions. They all take a practical approach and look to identify opportunities for change in your relationships to and your present circumstances within the world around you. These styles may feel more like coaching and can have a more external focus due to looking for solutions to perceived problems in your current life. Any of these independently or together can help boost your self-esteem, confidence, and understanding of your talents, skills, and values.

We look forward to meeting you!
